CHYK stands for Chinmaya Yuva Kendra, The Global Youth Wing of Chinmaya Mission.

CHYK is the “Meeting place” for all YOUNG minds with an urge to surge ahead.

CHYK is the “Research Lab” where the Youth learn to analyze their true potential, discover excellence and achieve success.

CHYK is the “Youth forum” where one’s talents are sincerely cultivated and joyously explored.

CHYK is the “Action-spot” where nascent ideas are sparked by an honest reflection on the knowledge enshrined in our scriptures and lit into flame of good work and service to the society.

In short, it is where you will find many like you with noble thoughts, creative ideas, dynamic actions and productive work.

The Chinmaya Yuva Kendra came into being in May 1975. In New Zealand however CHYK has been functioning since 2000.

What is CHYK?

Why CHYK?

Youth is the time when the personality is overflowing with energy, enthusiasm and dynamism. It is at this time, when challenges stare in the face that equipoise is required. Success depends on a clear vision of the goal of life and a knowledge of the right values.

This can be done by promoting a spirit of enquiry into life's principles in the light of the Hindu Philosophy, because our ancient spiritual heritage is an invaluable tool to help the youth build integrated personalities.

What we aim for...

Personality unfoldment, through enlightenment of the intellect and enrichment of character.

A systematic and deliberate preparation, to enable the youth to face the challenges and realities of life with a smile.

To cultivate qualities necessary to win the game of life, such as clarity of vision, team spirit, capacity to rise above one’s weaknesses, equipoise and creativity.

To develop new habits, trends, goals and ways of living.

To achieve TRUE EDUCATION - A spirit of enquiry into the principles of life in the light of our Ancient Philosophy.

Camps & Retreats:

For one weekend every year we have camps and retreats to provides us with a Flame in the form of the CHYK Camp. These are truly indescribable friendship-forming experiences of bonding and learning. The format includes discussion sessions, classes and outdoor activities, all based around understanding ancient mystical truths and fusing them with the fast-paced modern lifestyle that most of us lead. Topics that have been covered in earlier camps are: Born to Succeed - Goal Setting and also Roots - an exposure to our Cultural Roots!
